Thanks for your response!
The black is the "900" of the "900-9" is that correct? I was recently told that the "900" in '62 means "tuxedo black" The "-9" is the convertible top? Do you know that it signifies? Thank you, Sirs |

I think that I may have the ORIGINGAL PAINT.
It is starting to split a little like a dry lake bed, I hear that lacquer does that. Moreover, because of the fine 'splits' I can see a tan-color behind it (on the inside of the doors) which I am told was an interior primer paint color! The outside primer I was told should be a red-brown variation... does this sound feasible? |

Just a suggestion. Try to see if "Big Wave Dave" can help out with those numbers. He is kinda like the turbo registry keeper guru type. Sure gave me alot of facts on my 66 Corsa Turbo Convertible. I found out threw him that only 68 are know to exist. I wonder how many 62's were built and how many are left?? Here is Dave's email. corsa@comcast.net good luck.

Turns out that I have the orginal turbo, engine, & possibly black tuxedo exterior paint...
but the interior used to be GOLD! Black exterior, White Convertible top and Gold interior, hmm I just can't picture it! Turbo Number 3817254 is definitely a 1962 specific turbo so it is probably the original one from the car. The engine number is also correct for the build date of you car, so it appears to be a all original component numbers matching car. Did you know that most of the components on the car are dated. Thes include the transmission, axle,carbs, distributor and starter. Even the glass is date coded. I'd love to see pictures of your car, it is one of the earliest I have heard of. I have only seen one older and it was a GM showcar. When you get a chance, could you send some pictures to photo document your car. I'd like photos of the engine compartment, trunk, interior and various photos of the body. Since your car is such an early example, I'd like to see if there are any differences from later Spyder convertibles. ... The Black with gold interior is definitely a strange combination that I have never seen before. ... 04C = body built date April, 3rd week 1962 STYLE 62-0967 = 1962 Monza Convertible BODY WR 2550 = 2550th Monza Convertible body built at Willow Run TRIM 795 = Gold interior Upholstery PAINT 900 - 9 = (900) Tuxedo Black exterior paint, (9) gold interior paint ACC ADHKL-10 = Accessory line A = DIRECT AIR HEATER D = SPYDER TURBO OPTION H = PADDED DASH K = TINT GLASS ALL WINDOWS L -1 = CONVERTIBLE TOP COLOR WHITE 0 = MANUAL TRANSMISSION ENGINE Code : TO413YR T = Tonawanda assembly plant 0413 = April 13th 1962 built date. |

04C = body built date April, 3rd week 1962 How does this decipher? "0"? 4 is April, C = 3rd week, where's '62, what's the "0"? My '62 is 07D- July 4th week? Ever get pix of BLACK/ GOLD? |
