How many times do I have to tell you this. You do not need a quick steering box,
you need shorter steering arms. Cut (shorten by 3/4 ") and weld your stock arms,
and you will now have 3.8 turns lock to lock, instead of the stock 5.2. Find a
competent welder, and get it done. Draw a line through the center of the first
mounting bolt hole in the steering arm, perpendicular to the backing plate
mounting surface. Measure from this line to a paralell line across the center of
the tie rod hole , this should be 5 1/4 " for a stock arm. Make this distance 4
3/4 " for 'factory quick' length. This will give you about 3.8 turns. Make it
about 1/8 " longer, and you will have about 4 turns.
The Empi ( or whoever) quick aftermarket arms were approx 3 7/8 ", and that is a
bit too much for street use, I think.
You will, of course, need to readjust the toe in, after re-installation.
I have seen this written up in some publication, Finchs' possibly, but he
measures differently, and I dont exactly agree with him.
I did this on both my vairs some years ago and am well satisfied with the
results, and the wife does not complain overly about the effort required in
parking. Nuff sed.
