<VV> Ideal Tires for EMs, Highway Travel, and Otto 4x1 kit

Hello and happy holidays.

IDEAL TIRES - Right now I have a set of cheap (Target brand, I believe)

185/80s on my Monza and they seem to be doing fine, except when I make a

u-turn with the steering wheel at full lock they scrape the wheel well edges

a tiny bit. Now I am aware that this could be due to old springs, but I

think the 185/80s are a little too tall. Based on everyone's experience,

what do you guys think the best tire size is for earlies? What size is the

best all-around for traction and smoothness? I am thinking of going with

175/70s but I thought I would check with you all to see what you think.

HIGHWAY TRAVEL - Recently I made a few 2-hour trips in my Monza to

Harrisonburg, VA (I live in Richmond, VA) via the interstate. In 4th gear on

the highway, when I am just about keeping up with the other traffic (That's

how I gauge my speed - my speedometer is broken), the RPMs are so high the

engine sounds like it is about to fall out. Since I don't have a tach I

can't monitor the revs but it sounds like it is up around 45-5000. Now

either the engine is just trying to fool me by sounding higher than it really

is, or I have a super-short gear ratio. What was the standard gear ratio for

Monzas in '62?

OTTO 4X1 KIT - A little while ago I was flipping through the Otto Parts

catalog and spotted the custom 4-carb kit for 2-carb engines. Just out of

curiosity, how well does it work? I know the Fitch Sprint used to have a

similar custom setup, but I haven't found any information at all concerning

the performance of the kit. Does the increase in carburetion in any way

decrease engine life if you don't beef up the internals? How well does it

stack up against the late-model 140hp configuration?

Help on any of these topics would be greatly appreciated. Again, happy

holidays to everyone.

Thanks
