I too had big trouble mounting my Clarks rechromed and straightened bumpers.
I used the best brackets from my two cars which required serious adjustments
with a large Crescent wrench. Luckily I had two buddies helping with each
having a hand , literally between the inside ends and the freshly painted
body. They yelled a lot as I cranked down on the bolts and pinched hands but
no marks on the body. They had shop rags wrapped around their hands so no
blood would get on the paint. We removed and installed them four or five
times each to make adjustments and get them right. It was ,in a word a
pisser!
