I used to use that stuff. Then I found the Way.



Some years ago I discovered a little known secret to working with fuel lines.

(1) Buy some flare nut wrenches.

(2) Buy new fuel lines. The ones between the fuel pump and the

carburetors. Throw away those things with the rounded nuts (well, at least

put them in the junkbox) Turns out, these things were actually designed

properly in the first place and don't really need any tape, sealer, etc.

With the right wrenches you can tighten the fittings hand tight, plus maybe

1/8 turn more to compress them (I think they're called compression

fittings?). The threaded part stays round and the flats stay on the nuts.

The sealing tape looks like a good idea but if fuel is leaking past the

threads that isn't the place to try and stop it--the seal takes place at the

flare.



Back up the other nut with an appropriate wrench, blah, blah, you all know

that drill...
