<VV> maybe found stumbling problem / tire profiles?
A few days ago, I posted about my 65 Monza stumbling whenever I tried to
give it any gas. I think I may have found the problem: The vacuum hose
that controls the advance. I had replaced it last year, and had run it
along the cylinders, and it had gotten soft in the middle. WAY soft.
So soft that it would most likely just crimp itself with any vacuum
suction. I'll replace it tomorrow and give a report. However I suspect
this could be it!
You know, before I got this car, I knew nothing of auto mechanics, or
very little. The only reason I knew of this hose, is that I screwed up
trying to install new points, condensor, etc. I got so fed up, I bought
the Ignitor electronic ignition. Unfortunately, I didn't see that I
left a grounding wire from the coil hanging, and the car kept dying out
on me. An old timer in a Greenbriar stopped by, and helped me out.
Boy, did I feel silly! Anyway, live and learn...
BTW, I need to replace all four tires. Don't worry, not another tire
thread. I was just wondering what profiles you guys have successfully
used? There are skinny 175/80-13 on now. I know I can go to a
185/70-13. How about wider in the back, like 205/60-13? Can the fronts
be a smaller size? Is it bad to go lower profile in the back?
Experiences please!
