<VV> Gas Tank Woes: A Suggestion

Glenn,

Bite the bullet and get a new gas tank. This sounds like one I would not want to mess with. By the time you are done getting the rust out (if a shop does it, which I suggest, the acids could thin the metal out in places that it would not withstand a pressure test) and trying to fill the hole; all the effort, time and money you spend is worth a new tank.

Considering the sediment you found, it would be smart to clean the main gas line (get a new one, maybe), clean/rebuild the carb, and take it from there, after you get the gas tank and lines taken care of. I questioned a similiar tank on mine and went the new route. Be smart and safe!

Good Luck.

Rich Thompson
